Igor Robotics was a private technology company which focused on the creation of traditionally “impossible” machines, creating advanced computers, robots, and even cybernetic technology. Despite being one of the most-well known anomalous entities in the mid-to-late 1900s, they did not interact with anomalies or other factions all too often. Rather, Igor Robotics preferred to focus on anomalies that could help them advance their technology and GOIs which were willing to pay large amounts of money for said technology. Their general philosophy seems to be along the lines of “If a system functions properly and efficiently, then the mechanisms of its creation are irrelevant.”
Typically, the use of anomalies to advance technology would not be illegal if under surveillance by other groups, but Igor Robotics was guilty of many different ethical and legal crimes. The most notable of these are the inhumane use of excessive test subjects, leading to unnecessary deaths, and failure to implement containment protocol. They have even gotten into contact with wealthy individuals unaware of the existence of anomalies, harming the secrecy that The Collective and AAO work hard to maintain. An incident revealed that Igor Robotics were in the process of developing post-mortem neural reconstruction.
Overall, Igor Robotics could have been a risk to anomalous secrecy. They appeared to avoid the Collective altogether, likely due to their lack of security and armed forces, and knowledge that the Collective would take many of their vital assets for their own use.
Following the “Fall of Igor” incident, most of their surviving researchers have split into different groups, or have distanced themselves entirely from the anomalous side of the world. Many assets, most notably Subject 0944 “The Returnal” are in Collective custody.
